Field Preparation 

• Avoid water logging conditions
• One deep ploughing and followed by 2-3 harrowing and to apply 5 ton compost/acre during last harrowing

Sowing method

Sow the seed on one side of ridge by hand dibbling under irrigation.

Fertilizer recommendation (Kg/Acre)

Fertilizer’s recommendations may slightly vary from soil to soil and location to location. Need-based application of zinc is also recommended for better yields

Weed control

• Field should be free from weeds. Control of weed as per farmers practice hence could be used herbicide (Pendimethalin 6ml/lit water) at pre-emergence (second day of 1st irrigation just after sowing)

Water Management

• First irrigation just after sowing and followed by as per need, sensitive stage for irrigation are bud stage & seed filling stage
